What are electronic components?

An electronic component is a basic electronic component that can be contained in a separate component (an individual device or a discrete component) with two or more electrical connectors (terminal or lead). These components will be connected to each other, usually by soldering to a printed circuit board, to create an electronic circuit (a separate circuit) with a specific function (for example, an amplifier, radio receiver, or oscillator).

Basic electronic components may be packaged separately, such as arrays or networks of identical components, or integrated into packages such as semiconductor integrated circuits (ICs), hybrid integrated circuits, or paste chips (SMD). The following list of electronic components is based on different types of components, depending on the type of package.

Classify:

An electronic component can be classified as passive (active) or active (active). According to the physical definition, the passive component (passive) is a component that cannot supply power to itself, while the battery will be considered as an active component (active) because it actually acts as a energy sources.

Passive electronic components are components that cannot generate energy into the circuits they are connected to. They also cannot rely on an energy source unless there is power available when connected to the circuit (AC). Therefore, they cannot amplify (increase the intensity of a signal), although they can also increase the voltage or current by a transformer or resonant circuit. Most passive components are components that have two terminals (2-terminal components) such as resistors, capacitors, inductors, and transformers.

Active electronic components rely on a power source (usually from DC circuits, we chose to ignore) and are usually able to put electricity into a circuit even though this is not part of complete definition. This includes amplifier components such as transistors (transistors), triode vacuum tubes, and tunnel diodes.
